Sky Gradations in Watercolor – Wet on Wet Technique

Introducing the wet on wet technique

This sky section is a huge part of the experience of that free flowing zen mind state.

To get started right away we will follow the steps below initially, knowing that these steps can be changed and edited later. For now they give a common foundation on which to expand our skill later.

To start with the sky:

  1.  Wet Three retangular sections at the top. One reason we may want to focus first on these three with the Phthalo Blue wash is that we dont have to worry to much about the sections drying too quick. Start with the first row three at a time in the same row and then it will be easier to control wetness for that row. we can do all squares at the same time, however make sure that if you do:
    1. you have enough paint mixed in the well
    2. you dont wait to long to apply the Phthalo
